The Top 10 Boxscores of the Week

Welcome to the Top 10 Boxscore of the Week, a weekly segment on the Boxscore Geeks where we break down our favorite boxscores of the week. While we do use statistical criteria to guide our choices, this list is subjective. With that said, here's our list!

Dwyane Wade - Jan. 9th

link

  • 33 Minutes Played
  • 17 Field Goal Attempts
  • 1 Free Throw Attempts
  • 8 Points, 20.8% True Shooting
  • 5 Rebounds (3 Offensive)
  • 4 Assists
  • 0 Personal Fouls
  • 1 Steals
  • 4 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

An impressively bad shooting performance out of Wade. Dwyane's shooting has been declining the past two seasons. He had the worst shooting performance of the week with this game.

Kobe Bryant - Jan 8th.

  • 28 Minutes Played
  • 20 Field Goal Attempts
  • 2 Free Throw Attempts
  • 19 Points, 45.5% True Shooting
  • 4 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
  • 6 Assists
  • 3 Personal Fouls
  • 1 Steals
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

Another week, another twenty shot game from Kobe. Of course, efficiency matters, and I'd argue Kobe helped the Thunder win a close game here. Kobe is still battling injury and old age, so who knows how many more of these games he has left in him during his farewell season.

DeMarcus Cousins - Jan. 5th

link

  • 49 Minutes Played
  • 30 Field Goal Attempts
  • 6 Free Throw Attempts
  • 35 Points, 53.6% True Shooting
  • 17 Rebounds (3 Offensive)
  • 4 Assists
  • 5 Personal Fouls
  • 6 Steals
  • 10 Turnovers
  • 1 Blocks

This game pretty much epitomizes DeMarcus Cousins. Lots of points on inefficient shooting. Tons of rebounds, but tons of turnovers. Surprisingly he did not foul out despite playing over forty-eight minutes of play.

Rajon Rondo - Jan. 4th

link

  • 43 Minutes Played
  • 11 Field Goal Attempts
  • 8 Free Throw Attempts
  • 13 Points, 44.8% True Shooting
  • 9 Rebounds (Offensive)
  • 19 Assists
  • 1 Personal Fouls
  • 5 Steals
  • 6 Turnovers
  • 1 Blocks

Rajon Rondo may be one of the most gifted players in the NBA that can't shoot. It's pretty funny to have a player with as many steals as missed free throws. Rondo just missed an empty triple-double, but the good outweighed the bad as the Kings beat the Thunder.

James Harden - Jan. 7th

link

  • 34 Minutes Played
  • 25 Field Goal Attempts
  • 10 Free Throw Attempts
  • 33 Points, 56.1% True Shooting
  • 8 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
  • 3 Assists
  • 1 Personal Fouls
  • 2 Steals
  • 4 Turnovers
  • 1 Blocks

This game makes the list more because it amuses me. James Harden scored thirty plus points. The Rockets beat the Jazz. Nothing surprising there. However, Harden went 0-7 from three and only made seven free throws. Basically, I'm impressed at Harden for scoring like Harden in an un-Hardenesque way if that makes sense.

T.J. McConnell - Jan. 4th

link

  • 18 Minutes Played
  • 8 Field Goal Attempts
  • 0 Free Throw Attempts
  • 9 Points, 56.3% True Shooting
  • 4 Rebounds (1 Offensive)
  • 6 Assists
  • 0 Personal Fouls
  • 4 Steals
  • 0 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

One of my favorite kinds of box scores out of my own candidate for Rookie of the Year. In limited minutes, McConnell played an amazing game. Despite going one for five from three, he still shot efficiently, passed well, and stole like a maniac. And in McConnell fashion, he didn't make it to the line once! A solid performance that led to one of the rare 76ers victories.

Zach Randolph - Jan. 10th

link

  • 38 Minutes Played
  • 17 Field Goal Attempts
  • 8 Free Throw Attempts
  • 25 Points, 60.9% True Shooting
  • 13 Rebounds (8 Offensive)
  • 2 Assists
  • 2 Personal Fouls
  • 1 Steals
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 2 Blocks

The aging of the Grizzlies is one of the popular theories for their decline. Zach Randolph is one of the fading stars on the Grizzlies, but against the Celtics he came off the bench to play an amazing game that helped a twenty-one point comeback! Is Randolph back? Time will tell.

David West - Jan. 6th

link

  • 25 Minutes Played
  • 8 Field Goal Attempts
  • 2 Free Throw Attempts
  • 14 Points, 87.5% True Shooting
  • 13 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
  • 4 Assists
  • 3 Personal Fouls
  • 1 Steals
  • 0 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

David West is playing the best ball of his career, which makes sense as he's 35 years young. He played close to perfect ball in a mere twenty-five minutes against the Jazz. Of course due to the blowout nature of the game, the Spurs put in their backup Boban Marjanovic, who also played amazing ball and just missed this list.

Draymond Green - Jan. 4th

link

  • 38 Minutes Played
  • 8 Field Goal Attempts
  • 2 Free Throw Attempts
  • 13 Points, 73.2% True Shooting
  • 15 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
  • 10 Assists
  • 3 Personal Fouls
  • 1 Steals
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 2 Blocks

Some superlatives about Draymond Green. Maybe a comparison to Magic Johnson. An open-ended question about how many triple-doubles he'll get. You know the drill.

Draymond Green - Jan. 8th

link

  • 33 Minutes Played
  • 6 Field Goal Attempts
  • 4 Free Throw Attempts
  • 11 Points, 70.9% True Shooting
  • 13 Rebounds (1 Offensive)
  • 10 Assists
  • 3 Personal Fouls
  • 0 Steals
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 1 Blocks

The returns from the January 7th All-Star voting put Draymond in as a starter. To celebrate, Draymond got his eighth triple-double. I approve!

That's our list! Did we miss someone? Are any players too high? Well don't worry, we'll be back next week with another one.
