Last night, Sacramento's ineptitude reached its climax, and that changed things a bit. Meanwhile, the Southwest title race is heating up.

My worst fears came true last night, as the Hawks rested nearly all of their starters, and the Wizards rolled over their reserves. They play the Pacers tomorrow and the Cavs on Wednesday. I'm more than a little worried that that Cavs game also will not feature any of Cleveland's starters, so tomorrow's Pacers game might be the key.
The Mavs unsurprisingly beat the Lakers last night. I now need them to lose to the Jazz tonight and the Blazers on Wednesday. Tonight's game looks promising, it's a road back-to-back in Utah, and will be a tough matchup. Wednesday's game could be interesting; I have no idea who will play or rest for either team.
The Southwest division title is complicated. I believe it breaks down like this:
- In a three-way tie with the Grizzlies and Rockets, the Spurs would win the division.
- In a two-way tie with the Grizzlie, the Grizzlies would win
- In a two-way tie with the Rockets, the Spurs would win
This is because of how three-way tiebreakers differ from two-way tiebreakers, although it's making my head spin, so don't yell at me if I'm wrong. What this means is, we basically need:
- The Spurs to win their final game AND
- The Grizzlies to lose once OR the Rockets to win twice.
The Grizzlies play the Warriors tonight, and so far, I don't see any planned DNP-CDs, so this looks promising. And I don't expect Pop to rest anybody on Wednesday vs the Pelicans. The players will already have had two days rest, and there's a lot of playoff positioning on the line -- netting the #2 seed gets the Spurs homecourt advantage in round 2 and it avoids facing the Warriors until the WCF finals.
Go Spurs!
