The Top 11 Boxscores of the Week

Apologies for the lateness on this post! As a result, I'm upping it to 11 and including Monday Night Boxscores! Seem fair? Alright, away we go!

Welcome to the Top 10 Boxscore of the Week, a weekly segment on the Boxscore Geeks where we break down our favorite boxscores of the week. While we do use statistical criteria to guide our choices, this list is subjective. With that said, here's our list!

Aaron Rodgers - Dec. 3rd

link

  • 2 Touchdown Passes
  • 1 Rushing Touchdown
  • 273 Yards on 24/36

Rodgers threw the second longest "walk off" touchdown in NFL history! He also ran a touchdown in too. Truly a remarkable quarterback. This game also got us some amazing Stafford/Johnson memes and a great post out of Dave Berri. Also, I highly recommend watching Dave live tweet Lions games (@wagesofwins), it's a fun experience!

Kobe Bryant - Dec. 1st

link

  • 32 Minutes Played
  • 26 Field Goal Attempts
  • 4 Free Throw Attempts
  • Points, 13.4% True Shooting
  • 6 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
  • 2 Assists
  • 3 Personal Fouls
  • 1 Steals
  • 3 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

Since 1985 a player has attempted 17 or more threes thirty times. Only Dennis Scott connected on fewer (on a shorter three-point line, which is impressive!) The 76ers finally ended their losing streak, and it goes without saying that Kobe's heroics were key in their victory. We'll see how many more historic games he has in his farewell season.

Pau Gasol - Dec. 7th

link

  • 25 Minutes Played
  • 13 Field Goal Attempts
  • 8 Free Throw Attempts
  • 22 Points, 62.7% True Shooting
  • 10 Rebounds (4 Offensive)
  • 6 Assists
  • 2 Personal Fouls
  • 2 Steals
  • 3 Turnovers
  • 3 Blocks

An incredible stat line from Pau and he did it in only 25 minutes! Six assists out of a center is ridiculous, especially as he was also on fire from the field. Sadly, it came up just short.

Russell Westbrook - Dec. 6th

link

  • 38 Minutes Played
  • 13 Field Goal Attempts
  • 5 Free Throw Attempts
  • 19 Points, 62.5% True Shooting
  • 11 Rebounds (0 Offensive)
  • 10 Assists
  • 2 Personal Fouls
  • 3 Steals
  • 3 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

Our first triple double in over a week! Westbrook did everything well this game, except blocks. Seriously Westbrook, you couldn't get one block? I kid! Another game from one of the best candidates for MVP runner-up this season.

Dwight Howard - Dec. 5th

link

  • 36 Minutes Played
  • 9 Field Goal Attempts
  • 14 Free Throw Attempts
  • 22 Points, 72.6% True Shooting
  • 18 Rebounds (5 Offensive)
  • 0 Assists
  • 1 Personal Fouls
  • 2 Steal
  • 3 Turnovers
  • 2 Blocks

Dwight puts up a "Dwight Prime" line while flirting with a 20-20. Between injuries and rest, Dwight hasn't been his old self this season. If he can start putting up more games like this and the Rockets may get a winning record yet!

Marc Gasol - Dec. 1st

link

  • 42 Minutes Played
  • 22 Field Goal Attempts
  • 16 Free Throw Attempts
  • 38 Points, 65.4% True Shooting
  • 13 Rebounds (0 Offensive)
  • 6 Assists
  • 1 Personal Fouls
  • 0 Steal
  • 3 Turnovers
  • 4 Blocks

Marc Gasol puts up a double-double to go along with his career-high in points. If that wasn't enough he also put out six dimes (must be a Gasol thing this week) as well as four blocks.

Paul George - Dec. 5th

link

  • 42 Minutes Played
  • 27 Field Goal Attempts
  • 13 Free Throw Attempts
  • 48 Points, 73.3% True Shooting
  • 8 Rebounds (0 Offensive)
  • 3 Assists
  • 4 Personal Fouls
  • 3 Steal
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

How awesome is it that Paul George is back? He was a truly extraordinary talent on Indiana, and he was sorely missed last season. He's back and putting up great numbers, including this incredible shooting performance that came up just short in an OT loss to Utah.

Draymond Green - Dec. 06th

link

  • 34 Minutes Played
  • 10 Field Goal Attempts
  • 9 Free Throw Attempts
  • 22 Points, 78.8% True Shooting
  • 9 Rebounds (1 Offensive)
  • 7 Assists
  • 1 Personal Fouls
  • 1 Steals
  • 1 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

Draymond Green does everything! And in the Warriors twenty-two win streak, he kept that up. The MJ/Pippen comparisons are hard to avoid, and frankly they're appropriate, Green/Curry is truly a potent combination!

Kyle Lowry - Dec. 5th

link

  • 38 Minutes Played
  • 26 Field Goal Attempts
  • 8 Free Throw Attempts
  • 41 Points, 69.4% True Shooting
  • 3 Rebounds (1 Offensive)
  • 7 Assists
  • 2 Personal Fouls
  • 4 Steal
  • 1 Turnovers
  • 1 Blocks

Kyle Lowry managed to go toe-to-toe with the best player in the league in a heartbreaking three-point loss. In a typical game scoring 41 points should be a guaranteed win. Sadly, for Lowry and the Raptors it was a three-point loss. Next time!

Steph Curry - Dec. 2nd

link

  • 31 Minutes Played
  • 18 Field Goal Attempts
  • 4 Free Throw Attempts
  • 40 Points, 101.2% True Shooting
  • 3 Rebounds (0 Offensive)
  • 5 Assists
  • 2 Personal Fouls
  • 0 Steals
  • 5 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

Steph Curry puts up a forty point game to keep the Warriors historic streak going! Curry's scoring this season is absurd, I just can't stop saying that. You're watching something special folks!

Steph Curry - Dec. 5th

link

  • 38 Minutes Played
  • 24 Field Goal Attempts
  • 9 Free Throw Attempts
  • 44 Points, 78.7% True Shooting
  • 2 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
  • 7 Assists
  • 4 Personal Fouls
  • 0 Steals
  • 3 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

Steph Curry puts up a forty point game to keep the Warriors historic streak going! How many times will I get to say that this season? Also, he put up seven dimes, because of course, Curry makes any offense run oh so nice!

That's our list! Did we miss someone? Are any players too high? Well don't worry, we'll be back next week with another one. If you see any boxscores you think deserve consideration, leave them in the comments or tweet at myself (@nerdnumbers), Patrick (@nbageek), or Brian (@boxscorebrian) with hashtag #BSGTop10. Seeya next time!
