Shout Outs
We have some amazing fans and supporters, we decided to single out a few this week.
Paul Shirley
I seriously had a blast last week with our special guest Paul Shirley (@paulthenshirly) from the Short Corner Podcast. Paul was our guest star last week and talked paying NCAA athletes. For reference, this week's guest on Paul's show with Justin Halpern (@justin_halpern) was Pau Gasol, and they also talked paying NCAA athletes.
Seamus Young: A great commenter, thanks again Seamus for your awesome comment on "Role Players", a term which perpetually irks me!
@SmoothsHoops @NerdNumbers If every player has a role, what's the difference between "role player" and "player"? Words mean things.

Seth Burn (Seth Burn) and AndrewSellers07: Arturo's been having a great Twitter discussion about the lines for the Brooklyn-Toronto series. Sellers and Burn have also done lines for the NCAA tourney. Of course, if you're not following them, you've missed out! As Brian, our producer, notes – Seth used to be a pretty prolific Magic the Gathering player and writer.
Contests!
Want to prove your mettle in terms of playoff predictions? Enter the Boxscore Geeks Playoff Smackdown. Sadly, there may not be a Truehoop Smackdown this year, but we're definitely set up to let geeks prove their skill at guessing the playoffs.
We also had a regular season prediction contest, which you may recall from months ago! I'm happy to announce the winner:
Blake Pengelly(@b_pengelly) Also, amazingly there was a tie for second place. Good work to Martin Parodi(@martinz229) and @chukcha_96
Blake will be getting an amazing Boxscore Geeks shirt, as seen at Sloan, as well as the fame and prestige that comes with defeating all other geeks! We'll have a longer post up next week to finish up the contest.
And of yeah, it came down to the last night of the season, but Patrick ended up a little on his Vegas bets for the year. Moral victory!
Regular Seasons Awards
Who is the MVP? Well Durant of course! Kawhi Leonard deserves a little more love though.
Rookie of the year? Mason Plumlee or Gorgui Dieng? Arturo says both look for real.
Defensive player of the year? Arturo says Andrew Bogut (and his injury will matter!).
Executive of the year? Masai Ujiri. That's right, he deserves a repeat!
Playoffs
Playoffs? What do we think? Arturo's got you covered.
Advanced Stats
We discuss RPM a bit more, including some of what Arturo's been up to and our trepidation about the model.
Enjoy!
