The Top 10 Boxscores of the Week

Welcome to the Top 10 Boxscore of the Week, a weekly segment on the Boxscore Geeks where we break down our favorite boxscores of the week. While we do use statistical criteria to guide our choices, this list is subjective. With that said, here's our list!

Paul George - Dec. 21

link

  • 35 Minutes Played
  • 14 Field Goal Attempts
  • 5 Free Throw Attempts
  • 7 Points, 21.6% True Shooting
  • 7 Rebounds (0 Offensive)
  • 6 Assists
  • 1 Personal Fouls
  • 2 Steals
  • 6 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

After surging back this season, Paul George has regressed. He put up a dreadful night offensively. Typically having half as many points as shots is not a good thing. An assist to turnover ratio of one is also nothing to be proud of. At least, George pulled down seven boards, or this would have been even worse.

Kyrie Irving - Dec. 23rd

link

  • 17 Minutes Played
  • 10 Field Goal Attempts
  • 0 Free Throw Attempts
  • 5 Points, 30.0% True Shooting
  • 1 Rebounds (1 Offensive)
  • 4 Assists
  • 2 Personal Fouls
  • 0 Steals
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

I have bad news for Cavs fans; Kyrie Irving isn't back. In his first three games back from injury, he's played terribly. Of course, against a horrible 76ers and a weak Knicks team it didn't matter. Regardless, Irving put up a pretty bad game here. Hopefully, he'll return to his old form.

Tyler Zeller - Dec. 21st

link

  • 19 Minutes Played
  • 7 Field Goal Attempts
  • 3 Free Throw Attempts
  • 5 Points, 70.0% True Shooting
  • 8 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
  • 0 Assists
  • 6 Personal Fouls
  • 0 Steals
  • 3 Turnovers
  • 1 Blocks

Zeller was particularly impressive for two reasons. Per-minute he was great. In a mere seventeen minutes of play, he put up a 14-8 line. Of course, that brings us to his second impressive feat - being the fastest player to foul out this week!

Nikola Jokic - Dec 22nd

Link

  • 30 Minutes Played
  • 7 Field Goal Attempts
  • 6 Free Throw Attempts
  • 15 Points, 77.8% True Shooting
  • 10 Rebounds (6 Offensive)
  • 5 Assists
  • 1 Personal Fouls
  • 0 Steals
  • 3 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

Jokic has been a bright spot in another disappointing Nuggets' season. A big that can pass is a huge asset. Jokic is putting up a Rookie of the Year-worthy season (don't worry, the award is still Towns' to lose) Here's hoping Jokic keeps it up.

Boban Marjanovic - Dec. 26th

Link

  • 14 Minutes Played
  • 3 Field Goal Attempts
  • 8 Free Throw Attempts
  • 10 Points, 76.7% True Shooting
  • 7 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
  • 0 Assists
  • 2 Personal Fouls
  • 1 Steals
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 4 Blocks

In fourteen minutes of play, Boban put up an absurdly productive game. Hell, a 10-7-4 line is something some teams would be happy out of their starting bigs. The Spurs have been stingy with his minutes so far. Hopefully, as he acclimates to the NBA more he'll make this list for more than just per-minute impressiveness.

Nerlens Noel - Dec. 26th

Link

  • 31 Minutes Played
  • 7 Field Goal Attempts
  • 3 Free Throw Attempts
  • 14 Points, 84.1% True Shooting
  • 11 Rebounds (4 Offensive)
  • 0 Assists
  • 5 Personal Fouls
  • 3 Steals
  • 4 Turnovers
  • 2 Blocks

It took the 76ers nineteen games to get their first win. Luckily they're improving, it only took them thirteen games to pick up their second win. A big part was Nerlens Noel's great game. It was also helped by an injury to Bledsoe and a horrible performance out of Brandon Knight. Regardless, a win's a win, right?

Andre Drummond - Dec. 26th

link

  • 36 Minutes Played
  • 21 Field Goal Attempts
  • 10 Free Throw Attempts
  • 22 Points, 43.3% True Shooting
  • 22 Rebounds (7 Offensive)
  • 1 Assists
  • 1 Personal Fouls
  • 2 Steals
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 2 Blocks

I like picking really good performances and really bad performances for this list. My favorite box scores fall somewhere in the middle. Any twenty plus rebound night in regulation is impressive. Tack on two steals and two blocks and Drummond had quite an excellent game. However, a 43.3% True Shooting to go with six missed free throws is painful! Regardless, Drummond's 20-20 gets him on the list.

Bismack Biyombo - Dec. 22nd

link

  • 38 Minutes Played
  • 9 Field Goal Attempts
  • 2 Free Throw Attempts
  • 9 Points, 45.5% True Shooting
  • 20 Rebounds (7 Offensive)
  • 2 Assists
  • 2 Personal Fouls
  • 0 Steals
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 2 Blocks

Another twenty rebound performance makes the list! The rule to get there this week was poor shooting! Still, it was an impressive performance in a close game. Biyombo places higher on the list than Drummond because when you're doing something poorly, it's better to do less of it!

Kevin Durant - Dec. 27th

Link

  • 39 Minutes Played
  • 21 Field Goal Attempts
  • 1 Free Throw Attempts
  • 26 Points, 60.6% True Shooting
  • 5 Rebounds (2 Offensive)
  • 10 Assists
  • 3 Personal Fouls
  • 0 Steals
  • 2 Turnovers
  • 1 Blocks

I won't lie; Durant normally wouldn't be on this list with this performance. I mean sure, it was a fine game, but from Durant, it's nothing impressive. This game makes this list because Westbrook helped carry him there!

Speaking of Westbrook...

Russell Westbrook - Dec. 27th

Link

  • 38 Minutes Played
  • 18 Field Goal Attempts
  • 6 Free Throw Attempts
  • 30 Points, 72.7% True Shooting
  • 9 Rebounds (1 Offensive)
  • 12 Assists
  • 0 Personal Fouls
  • 1 Steals
  • 4 Turnovers
  • 0 Blocks

Westbrook and Durant have become the most potent combo in the NBA. Westbrook missed a triple-double, largely because of his great shooting. Westbrook has become one of the most versatile guards in the NBA, and the great one-two punch of Durant-Westbrook erased an eleven point lead for the Nuggets.

That's our list! Did we miss someone? Are any players too high? Well don't worry, we'll be back next week with another one. If you see any boxscores you think deserve consideration, leave them in the comments or tweet at myself (@nerdnumbers), Patrick (@nbageek), or Brian (@boxscorebrian) with hashtag #BSGTop10.
